Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain a message sent by email long enough to answer and manage the correspondence. It remains within our organization unless the law requires disclosure to someone else.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive standard technical information when a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when available
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser type and version
- The device IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We and our analytics services use them to measure traffic in aggregate, including popular pages and where visits end. A browser can reject cookies, although some site functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Finding and correcting technical problems
- Measuring which material visitors use
- Operating the service and maintaining performance
- Routing a query to the relevant search partner
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Iron County Criminal History does not compile, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Iron County Sheriff, Utah courts, the Utah Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Identification, and the Utah Sex and Kidnap Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a criminal file about another person. Utah Code §53-10-108 governs BCI criminal-history collection and dissemination, not a database operated here.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy rules, retention periods, and disclosure practices apply to information entered there. We do not control those practices, so read the provider’s policy before running a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Sheriff pages, Utah court systems, state offices, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves our pages, the destination’s privacy policy governs. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising services may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure site use and performance
- Search partners that process a submitted query
- Government or law-enforcement bodies responding to valid legal process
- Advertising networks that serve ads
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for data in our care. No internet system can be guaranteed secure, however, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with residence and applicable law. Utah’s Government Records Access and Management Act, Utah Code Title 63G, Chapter 2, addresses government records, while Utah Code §53-10-108 controls BCI criminal-history dissemination. Those laws do not turn this private resource into a government records custodian. Subject to the law that applies, you may:
- Object to certain forms of processing
- Request deletion of your data
- Ask us to correct inaccurate information
- Request a copy of information held about you

This policy may be revised. A changed version will appear here and carry a new effective date.
